At the moment, his son Robert Brekelmans is the director of PIANT. Robert Brekelmans entered the company in 1994. PIANT started in the 1960s with modelling and punching designs for the shoe- and leather industry. During this time, the production shifted to China and Portugal, so PIANT focused on the plastics industry. The company is now back on the market for leather products. PIANT is convinced that they can do it better and cheaper than countries like China.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company started with its mission to get this industry back to Waalwijk. A new building was constructed. Brekelmans is full of trust. At the new location directly next to bol.com, there will be enough space to expand. PIANT wants to double its size. At the moment, the company has as many as 75 employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new premises were not the only innovation for PIANT. Brekelmans asked himself: \u201cHow awesome would it be if we could get leather products back?\u201d He started to focus on efficiency and has managed to do it. The company has developed a machine that can gain between 12 and 15 per cent more leather from a single hide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, PIANT processes 150.000 hides per year. But Brekelmans wants more. In the new building, there is enough space to place additional machines. All connections and plugs are already there.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robert: \u201cThis way, we contribute to the circular economy. And we want to cooperate and innovate even more, that is why we became a member of Leather Made Smart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, PIANT processes 150.000 hides per year. But Brekelmans wants more. In the new building, there is enough space to place extra machines. And we want to cooperate and innovate even more, that is why we became a member of Leather Made Smart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robert Brekelmans<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201eDe Leerfabriek\u201c (\u201ethe leather factory\u201c) processes leather for the retail sector, yacht building and automotive industry. \u201cThanks to our advanced machine park and years of experience, we enabled ourselves to become the reliable, professional and efficient partner for the processing of leather\u201d, Robert explains. \u201cBecause the machine park is completely designed for fast and efficient operations, the client profits. Whether it is about stitching, cutting, engraving, perforating, assembly, embossing or laser-cutting a semi-finished leather product.
